How to Change Your Organization’s Culture

Changing an organization\’s entrenched culture is the toughest task you will face as a manager. Here are some of the hurdles — and how to overcome them.

Culture change is tough.  Your employees first need to understand why you’re changing the culture and then have to want to make the change. 

From the Wall Street Journal, some tips on how to change your organization’s culture:

  • Start the change process with people who have disproportionate influence in the organization.
  • Look for ways to get people to experience the harsh realities that make change necessary.
  • Look for ways to redistribute resources toward “hot spots” – activities that require few resources but result in large change.
